PIKP and TFIP in partnership with the Alejo M. Pacalso Memorial National High School (AMPMNHS) successfully conducted the first “Indigenous Story Writing Contest” with the theme “Lessons from the wisdom of our elders”. This was done on the occasion of Buwan ng Wika, which is celebrated in schools nationwide in August of every year.
The contest called for the submission of stories based on interviews with community elders, and related actual life experiences and stories of the community elders. The contest was open to all students of the AMPMNHS, and prizes were awarded to the winners at the culminating activity last August 31, 2018.
Selected stories from the submissions will be published in a book on stories from Bua at the end of the school year. The book is envisioned to be a valuable material for the Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) program of the school.
